Our client is a specialist healthcare consultancy working with NHS and independent healthcare clients. This is a new position for a talented candidate, offering the opportunity to play a leading role in growing an analytics and statistical modelling capability. You will provide analytical and statistical support to a wide range of healthcare clients. This role will suit someone who enjoys advanced analysis, working in a fast paced, commercial environment and delving into large sets of data.

Typical projects include statistically robust financial and clinical review of large datasets to identify issues in the recording of healthcare activity and working alongside healthcare economies in developing economic models to forecast activity and healthcare requirements. Projects involve working with commissioner datasets including NHS Secondary Uses Service (SUS) data to understand patient profiles, activity and cost trends over time and as identifying and developing new theoretical models for testing clinical and financial hypotheses.

The role:
* Conception, design, build & implementation of advanced reports & statistical models, using R & SQL
* Working in a fast paced team, involved in multiple workstreams. Responsible for the enhancement of a variety of analytical models
* Supporting an internal team of consultants & analysts, helping them to manage & interpret large datasets & correctly apply statistical methods
* Providing statistical leadership to client projects & internal team, including guiding approaches to sampling, reporting & extrapolation of audit results

Skills & experience:
* Educated to degree level in a numerate discipline (mathematics, statistics, operational research)
* Second degree/post grad preferred
* Strong experience in an advanced statistical role
* Proven experience of analysis & statistical application with R
* Strong statistical modelling ability
* Ability to pull & manipulate data using SQL & R
* Ability to effectively communicate a data story in Excel & PowerPoint
* Fluency with Git, ggplot2 and/or Shiny desirable
* Experience with text mining and/or NLP desirable
* Excellent stakeholder engagement
* Passionate about translating complex data concepts to a non-technical audience
* Experience in healthcare environment & understanding of NHS datasets/information standards desirable
