Established IT Services Company based in Chester are looking for an IT Support Field Engineer to join their support team. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of IT Support.

The role will involve taking IT support calls from clients covering a range of Microsoft technologies, from desktop up to server operating systems and solutions such as Microsoft Exchange Server along with a primary on-site presence to service North West and UK based clients.

There will also be some aspects of Linux support, although full training will be given. You will also be required to support other networking devices such as switches, firewalls/routers, printers , Active Directory and Group Policy. You will also be part of the on call rota.

You will ensure that all support calls and queries are dealt with in an efficient manner and in line with our clients SLA terms. You will work to tight deadlines and be happy to take ownership of support queries as they come in, seeing them to completion or escalating them to another member of the team.

We encourage on the job training and our staff are happy to sit and work through problems with you so that your ongoing personal training is constant throughout your time with the company.


Providing customer support via our Support Portal system to maintain our and our clients’ coverage of IT systems
Performing on-site and remote installation and servicing of servers, PC’s, printers and networking devices
Contributing to the installation and support of new IT products and services
Assisting with the maintenance of Internet Services
Maintaining extensive customer details within our Support Portal and making sure that these are kept up to date at all times
Assisting Senior Engineer(s) with Cat5/Cat6 cabling
Liaising with clients about their systems and offering ideas and proposals of ways to improve client systems and networks

Key skills
Communication, customer service, troubleshooting, problem solving, adaptability, team player

Desirable skills but not essential:
- Microsoft Hyper-V Server
- VMware
- Active Directory/Group Policy

Relevant Qualifications:
- Ideally minimum 12-months experience working within a similar position
