This engineering role spans cross-functional engineering disciplines for the complete development of our products. These are innovative, battery-powered, LED lighting products with wireless and App control. The products are strongly regarded in the events and entertainment markets both at home and abroad across Europe, USA and other countries in other continents. The company also produces floodlights which are starting to become established in a number of different sports and industrial markets.
Assisting definition of the development roadmap.
Conceptual prototype design.
Developing concepts, providing design specifications, drawings, time plan and detailed specifications.
Completing development including guiding internal and external staff/partners, dealing with their problems and finding innovative solutions to problems.
Focusing on cost-engineering & benchmarking designs against overseas competition.
Defining & documenting development processes for business growth.
Working with third-party design firms, facilitating design reviews and getting priority when necessary.
Advising on technical repair process & ensuring satisfaction with customers.
Liaising with customers to find out how products are used and helping to develop new ideas.
Attending exhibitions, seminars, keeping abreast of innovations to ensure our products are at the cutting edge of the technology.
Analogue design including component selection (essential)
Digital design including component selection (essential)
Embedded Software in C, Microchip PIC, Atmel ATSAM microcontrollers (essential)
PCB Design – KiCad preferred or previous experience of PADS, Altium etc. (essential)
Taking products through approvals (essential)
Mechanical – Solidworks or other 3D design tools (desirable)
App design for mobile iOS & Android (desirable) – for driving development through 3rd parties
RF - integration of external RF module products carried out (desirable)
Cypress BLE Development (desirable)
The candidate may have worked across different engineering functions in different organisations, but here will be able to pull together different experiences into one single role. The company is looking for someone who is more of a generalist rather than an expert in a single discipline, but someone who is keen to develop themselves within the role as the company grows.
